Replacing the Battery in a Sensor Mote
How-To Video
Note: Before you begin, obtain the magnet, a Waites-approved battery, and a 5/16-inch deep socket or equivalent tool.
To replace the battery in a sensor mote:
-
Use a 1 5/16-inch deep socket or an equivalent tool to open the sensor mote. Place the tool over the hexagonal nut and turn it to the left to loosen the top cover.
-
Unscrew and remove the hexagonal nut, then lift off the cover to reveal the board and battery.
-
Before replacing the battery, drain the capacitor by tapping the sensor with a magnet. A blinking light will confirm it has been drained.
-
Insert a Waites-approved battery. The sensor will turn on automatically.
Note that using non-approved batteries will void the warranty and can damage sensors. - Reassemble the components in reverse order by replacing the cap and then the hexagonal nut to secure it.
